Dan Matutina

Dan Matutina arrives on center stage.

From the moment the first slide showedI knew he'd be one interesting guy to listen to.

See what I mean?

He showed us how to make turon in a cool (and funny) way:

and you fry it all up...tadaaa! :)) TURON.

Anyhoo, that's how his talk began...and it led to this.

In College, he was really into drawing and he drew his friends a lot and even made them super hero characters.

Funny about his friend who likes to take weed, there's a logo of marijuana on the backpack :))

Then he went to:

He did some stuff there too and made lots of story boards.

He even made the cool/funny Chippy tv ad!

His process:

His materials:

He was inspired by Filipino banigs (mats) and made a cool design out of it.

His work was featured down here:

This was quite a controversial one because if you look closely, the priest is holding a condom instead of the bread of Christ. That work was about the RH Bill.

He even made an app game for iphones/itouch which was about helping dolphins!

So gruesome, the deaths of the dolphins down there! :))

The game play was easy, you have to deflect the harpoons that are going to hit the dolphins otherwise... (see illustrations above) :)) Genius, eh? :))

He's very interested in space and aliens too so he made this.

He said that if the astronaut gets bored in outerspace (he has a point) he can play tic-tac-toe on his left arm. :)))

In the presentation, that astronaut was really moving! :O

The spaceship of the astronaut was inspired by the old game of jack stones!

This was the rocket ship at first!

Until it dismantled to the tip and that was where the cockpit was =))

And that was his presentation.
There were really more slides when he presented at Graphika Manila 2011, I wasn't able to take all of them though. He's really a cool dude and he's a professor in UP Diliman! :O
He also has a tumblr riiighhttt....here.

I follow him and I looove his works and his "Good Morning Monday" section. Check 'em out. :D
