Awards

Ooohh, our exhibit is nominated for the Best Exhibit category in MMA Awards (Multimedia Awards). I wasn't a fan of the first Awards but since we're nominated...I might as well go. Hahaha.

In the meantime, here's something for a morning soundtrack while dressing up:

Betty Go's Fortress

I just really like to call it a fortress but it's not. It's just an old dilapidated building that has become a home to some squatters and has served as a canvas for different Graffiti artists in town. The story was that the owner was not able to sustain the building's fee and through the years it ended up as it is today. My friend Lee and I have been itching to have a shoot of our own because we have new film cameras we'd like to use. We thought that the building was a perfect place.

A friend told me that we could have a shoot inside as long as we pay a little fee for the caretaker who lives there. She was really nice and the "fee" was just right. Kids were roaming around but they posed no harm  and knew not to get in the way of your shoot.

I used a Yashica Mat 124G for those shots. It was super fun and enthralling to shoot film and I get why people still ask the question, "Why use film when you can go digital now and edit it to look like film later?" but there's just this magical thing/moment where you click the shutter and cock the film, you know? And and, it feels more reaaallll (and not poser-y) and more effort has been put into it and the suspense you get when you wait for your films to get processed is just soooo fascinating.

There are a lot of misconceptions about film nowadays but people tend to forget that photographers back then had to use these film cameras and was able to create iconic images with JUST A FILM and a film camera. No editing from Photoshop or whatever software there is. So even though there are insanely good digital cameras out there these days, I still wouldn't neglect my film cameras because they were the real deal back then and it still (actually is) today (Also, I can use film cameras even without batteries hehehe).

Anyways, here are some digital pics I took (because I don't discriminate hehehe):

The place is really good and I don't mind going back to it because there are a lot of places/corners where a shoot can take place. I just need a model, hehehe. Anyone willing? Lawl.

Anyways, if you want to see MORE photos that I took, check here and here.

There's just something about...

Black.

HELLO THERE. I'm back! I haven't done this in a looooooooongggg tiiimeeee so here it goes. I did it coz I just really liked what I wore and I want to save it in my head. I'm pretty sure I'm going to repeat the outfit someday though (GASSPPP, YES, REPEAT THE FREAKIN' OUTFIT JEEZUZ)  because it just feels sooo comfortable in it.

I'm wearing my fave beanie at the moment, it's my Comme des Fuckdown! Beanie that I bought in Hong Kong. I'm also wearing my New Balance 574s that I also bought in HK which I wear ALMOST every day. Super COMFY I feel like I'm floating...waaayyy different feel than my Docs but I love them both equally.

Here I'm using my Triffer backpack I also got in HK. Super awesome bag with super awesome leather straps. I love it. PLUS, it's pretty big so I can bring my laptop with me when I go to school.

This was a test shot...but I like it because it's me...thinking about something and it kinda makes me look smart, no? :))) ok.fine.not.

And since the weather is jacked up that day, I wore sunglasses! Now its dark....

Now it's clear! MAGIIIICCC. :))
Ok, I got this for 370 pesos. A legit one would cost you.....2,000 HKD (You do the math)? Or more...Or less...I'm not really sure but most definitely would go to the IT'S PRETTY FUCKING EXPENSIVE FOR FUCKING SUNGLASSES BUT I STILL REALLY WANT IT Category.

So yeah, I love it, it's a bargain. Got it from Cool Cats. Yes, that is their name. Cool Cats.

Aaaannddd, that's me...with my Capdase leather laptop sleeve/portfolio...just coz I want to place random papers in it too.

Oh, and just so I can share it with you guys....here's a video I made from our trip to Hong Kong. I apologize in advance because the digicam I used was for old people hence the crappy video quality. Nonetheless, the trip was pretty fucking awesome!

PS. I believe I am in my Streetwear phase. Just sayin'

BOOKS!

John Green's Books.

HOLA! I just wanted to share that I have read ALL of John Green's books. In the photo above are all of his books stacked on my table. The top one could be my fave book right now. The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns, Looking for Alaska, Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and An Abundance of Katherines would be the last. LOVE EVERY ONE OF THEM but TFIOS has gotta be a fave. It made me cry in the backseat of our car. YES, I WAS SILENTLY WEEPING

+ The Graveyard Book

Then I read The Graveyard Book which was written by Neil Gaiman. TBH tho, I found it quite boring and thought the ending was "meh".

Gabriel Garcia Marquez's Memories of My Melancholy Whores

MMMW's by Gabriel Garcia Marquez was pretty nice. Even though I was weirded out at first I totally appreciated it in the end.

David Levithan's Every Day

And now I'm reading Levithan's book where the protagonist switches body to body when the clock strikes 12. So far I think it's okay. Nothing awesome happening yet...I think it's coz I'm still hung up on John Green's books. HIS BOOKS ARE SO GOOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR HIM TO RELEASE A NEW ONE.

I've been reading a lot lately which I have not really done before so I guess my "resolutions" list is going pretty well. So far so good! Goodreads.com is keeping me up to date with good books out there so if you want to read stuff too, sign up for free on that website!

Also, I'm working in my bro's room for new stuff to be released on The Number 60. Can't wait to see the samples!

I AM ALIIIIVEEE!!!! (2013)

*GASP*

It's 2013 and I am aliiiiveee! And you're still ALLIIIVEEE! And WE ARE ALL ALIVE. Maybe the "jokes" were true about the Mayans just running out of ink/paper/whatever it is they need to write upon their dates and ended at December 21, 2012.

ANYWAYS...

I'm alive and my "blog" is alive and I am back for a revenge! (Lol, not really)

A new year means a new planner and bro was kind enough to buy me one when we went to a trip in HK. I'm currently making a video out of that trip so hold your breaths for that (No. Don't do it. You will DIE). NEW YEAR MEANS NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS TOO. Quite frankly, I never did remember my resolutions and they never made it past March. They just get buried underneath the shit that goes into my mind. Cue a quote from John Green's The Fault in Our Stars, a character says "Writing does not resurrect. It buries." (I'm a busy bee too ya knoow?)

I've been MIA because of school and when school was over and break began I couldn't think of anything to blog. It was like I lost my "blogging mojo". SOMEONE STOLE MY MOJO (Austin Power's style) and I couldn't find it until naooo. I actually missed it, hmmm who knew, huh?

That up there is a photo of my new planner/organizer/the other half of my brain. It will guide me the whole year and hopefully it won't fail me just as my 2012 planner did not. If you look closely, you'll see that I wrote there"Things to do for the N.Year!" and I listed down some things for me the whole year.

1. BLOG AGAIN- I will try to blog again and I don't know why but my life feels more important when I "blog". I like to pretend people care about my life so I feel like I'm doing something right.
hehehhehhehehehhe lolwat.

2. New Stuff for #60- The Number 60 is my new raket. Yes, rumaraket ako (see second to the last thing to do for 2013). Also, if you are not aware what The No. 60 is ... click here! I know I have the ukay/secondhand thing going on but last year I just thought there has to be something better than ukay-ing and I thought creating my own pieces/designs would be nice. Getting The Number 60 out there is smooth sailing for now and I hope I get to do more of it this year. It's like my baby number 2 aside from Secondhand Ripped Tee. LOL.

3. Read John GreenSLASHMore (books)- So I'm currently doing that and so far so good. I've read Will Grayson (2x), Looking for Alaska which was awesome and I still can't get over the plot twist, and then I just recently finished...

Which is just a heart-breaker and I read it in the car and I was silently crying in the backseat. Anyhoo, my next target is Paper Towns and An Abundance of Katherines and then Grace Coddington's book which I'm still waiting to arrive in the shelves of Fully Booked.

4. TRAVEL- I'm not looking into any specific country or location right now but after last Christmas' HK trip, Iwannafreakintravelsomewhereagain. Or I can always just travel to Quiapo, Boracay or Palawan and that's cool too. Getting lost is the best way to do this but I do hope I get lost with cash coz I can always take a cab home when I get lost if ever. HAHA.

5. Do Something I've never done before- HA! I've always been the person who would do "the right thing" or is always worried that I might offend someone by doing this or that (at least I think I am) sooo I wannado some shit nao. Thanks.

6. Get RICH OR DIE TRYING- Shhhh guys, it's my inner 50 Cent comin' out. Haha, but seriously tho...this line has ALWAYS been in my list.

7. LIVE- CHEEESSYYY I KNOOWWWW. Kill me now but it's true. I gotta do something with my life, ya know?

So with that, I leave you with this classic video:

Happy New Year, Mofoooss!

PS. I just saw that Ang Nawawala part 1 is hanginggg as in cliff hanger siya so part 2 of the photos is somewhere over here.

Ang Nagwawala Pt.1

I was invited by my friends to the Ang Nawawala after party called Ang NaGwawala which was genius. The party was for the movie called Ang Nawawala which is a totally good movie that made me teary-eyed in the theater (ako lang ba ang na teary-eyed sa movie na to? HAHAHA). If you haven't seen the movie, you guys should totally watch it (if it's still showing)!

The party was free and anyone could just go in and listen to the bands perform. There's also a cool twist to it because all of the bands who performed were also part of the movie! We listened to the soundtrack of the movie live. Totally awesome.

Ang Bandang Shirley singing their awesome songs. My fave is Nakauwi Na.

The crowd.

Diego Mapa on stage

Pedicab played all their fucking awesome songs!

Raymond Marasigan goin' wild

It was my first time to watch Sandwich live and they were just insanely awesome. Raymond Marasigan jumped in to the crowd 3 times!

I'm still going to process the other film so this post is to be continued... :)
