Lady Gaga in Manila!

The Arenaaa! It looks like Jesus fish if you ask me.  Jesus-fish is the sticker that you put on cars that looks like a fish but it's...ya know, a religious symbol or something...yeahhh.... sorry, umepal si manong sa photo. The insides are finished and it's clean, but it's nothing really fancy. It is an upgrade from the Araneta Coliseum, better seats and all that stuff but nothing really out of the ordinary, I think. The outsides aren't finished when I saw them, they were just attaching some metals siguro that's like 98% completed na. Hehe, there was a little bias though coz when you get to the top floor, there's no more aircon and you are forced to use the stairs instead of escalators =))

When you get inside this is what you'll see. Nakakalula siya btw, I think I experienced a little vertigo moment when the ticket lady stamped my arm and I entered for the first time at the General Admissions area. There were little steps that leads you to the chairs and one trip could lead you to the patron area =)) Yun ung feeling ko.

Look behind the draaapesss, it's Lady Gaga's Castle!!! :O

That's DJ Zedd as her opening act, he's pretty good. Then he finished after an hour and a half of Dj-ing and the drapes were lifted after another 30 minutes!

Then the smokes started to fill the stage and I thought that there must've been loads of fog machines behind the castle because the stage filled up so fast! Anyhoo, I looveedd the stage, it reminded me of Polly Pockets and my childhood because the castle and it's gates opens and closes by itself! =)) You'll see her band inside the castle too when they open, it's insane! Whoever thought of the concept and how to execute the whole set is a genius!!!! Exclamation point overloaadddd.

Then some sort of entourage of Gaga's came out and there was a point that a horse/unicorn came out. It was amazing!!! =))

The whole concert was pretty amazing and she sang ALL of her hit songs and almost all of the songs in the Born This Way album. I love everything but my favorite outfit of hers was the Bloody Mary one because it looked like she was floating but she wasn't! Here's a video from Tokyo (coz I can't find a good copy from Manila in youtube) so you'll see what I mean:

I love that there are segues in almost each of the song that she performed and that the concert sort of had a story in it. It was just insanely cool. I didn't take much photos because I was too busy singing along with her and sort of dancing, and by dancing I mean moving my arms and stuff =))

And that's the stage when the show was over!

I took a video of "Hair" where she also had a little speech about the protests that were held by these "religious people", I'd love to post it but you'll just hear my horrendous voice and screams so never mind. =))

PS. I still have a Born This Way Ball hangover. My 2k was worth it. :D

Manila Music Festival

Manila Music Festival!
A festival to call our own, they said. True, it was fun but I think a lot of tweaking needs to be done. I have some photos to show ya'll, apologies for some crappy digital photos that I have here, did not bring my dslr eh.

Here's one of the stage...this one is the dj area.

I think that's Similar Objects performing, I'm not quite sureeee.....

This is me, sitting on the sand taking a photo of a stranger's mat. =))

This dude twirled his lights the whole night! =)) I bet he had fun.

This is the Red Bull tent. I would just like to say (and be honest because no one seemed to complain about this) that the prices for the drinks are TOTALLY INSANE. 100 pesos for a MINI BOTTLE OF WATER. Ginto ang tubig nila (in reality, Viva lang ung tubig nila). The coke was also gold, so I had to share a can of coke with my friends =)). Mas mura pa ung Red Bull kesa sa tubig, which was crazy.

There were live art happening all over the place, and the place was big, in fairness.

Kjwan was good and of course they had to sing their summer song, 'One Look' and it was perfect. Made my night  actually hehe.

I had no idea that guitarist was epic but he fingered (yes, I had to use that term) his guitar while drinking with his right hand. Na-amaze ako okay. Also, if you lookk closely at my crappy photo, there is a cigarette on top of his guitar. Badasssss. He looked scary though, but nonetheless, he's got my R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

I also liked how Marc Abaya kept saying he was Derek Ramsay, I can't tell if he was drunk then because he did a good job performing but you could tell he was bitter against the dude coz you know, he got Angelica whatsername. Anyhoo, I also liked that he did his sorta signature move where he spits beer in the air.

LOOK, a keytar!!!! The sound from the key-tar was amazing. That dude did a solo and he was ace.

The MMF also had a free tie-dye think going on which I thought was genius and fun and a tent that serves free silkscreen to put if you brought a white shirt. If not, you could always buy the white shirt and let them do the silkscreening for free which was really cool.

This is the guitarist for Kjwan earlier but in reality, he was a guitarist for the band Wilabaliw. I would also like to state that they are Baliw. Their performance was crazy as in air flips and intense solos but I have to be honest, I could not understand a word that the singer was singing/screaming. Nevertheless, I liked their badass-ness and all.

He did some tumbling and dropped on his back, I heard it was his signature move. I thought that was cool.

The event was fun but to be honest, it didn't really cater much to a young audience. Maybe that's why the venue wasn't full? I wish they invited more familiar bands because the ones who performed weren't really in my radar. Totally respect the whole "they are legends" thing and all but I had no idea what songs they were playing! If they mixed in some hip bands too then maybe it would have been more worth it to go to, but no regrets. The experience was different, something I have not done before and I thought it was cool. Maybe if the line-up next time were better like I dunno *cough* Yuck, M83, and the likes *cough* would be performing, I definitely would spend more than a buck or two, if ya know what I mean. :D

Also, there were moments that a stage would be "almost" empty, so I felt sorry for the performer :< AWWWW but since it was a first for Manila, I hope the next time would be better! WOOOOO! And now my next post will be about Lady Gagaaaaa! Don't expect for cool photos tho coz I was in Gen Ad lang. Hahahaha.

PS. More photos to come but I used a film camera there so I have to wait until the films get developed~~~  I also forgot to state that I had a water gun with me and got wet in the venue which was awesooomeee. :D

What'sa Cookin' ?

HOLA FOLKS!
I haven't been here in ages, gladly I am still alive and safe...funny thing is, when I stopped "blogging" the traffic in my blog increased =)) It's pretty weird and ironic that that happened but now that I'm back (typing again) I can't wait to see what happens.

A lot has happened, school happened and then some Warpaint and a little bit of Manila Music Festival here and uhhmmm...yeah. I like to pretend people care about the things that happen in my life so here goes nothin' ! :D

A total recap into what has happened in my life:

Warpaint happened all summer so that was pretty cool. If you don't know who Warpaint is, here I'll show ya...

That's my first fave song from them, in the end though, I kind of ended up liking almost all of their songs in their albums. YES, their first EP called Warpaint and their album called The Fool. Both are definitely worth the download. Although their albums are awesome, they are more of a "live" band, so I suggest you sit your ass down and open youtube and check out all of their live performances (coz yeah, that's what I did the whole summer). Not only that, the girls are all freakin' hilarious in their interviews and I'll show you one of their cool interviews:

Might I also give a little trivia? The bassist has an ace Rickenbacker and her name is Jenny Lee Lindberg. She has a sister named Shannyn Sossamon. Familiar? Ever seen the movie called 'A Knight's Tale'? Yep. :> ALSO, the chick with the red guitar is Theresa Wayman and if you'll recall a movie named 'The Rules of Attraction', she's the chick there who kills herself! Shannyn Sossamon was there as well. Shannyn was also a previous drummer of Warpaint but left because she wanted to focus on acting. Don't worry, an epic drummer replaced her and her name is Stella Mozgawa!

So yeah.  On to the next happening!
